⚠️ Crucial Seat Quota Rule for Government vs. Private Colleges
In Gujarat, 95% of seats in 100% State Government and Grant-in-Aid colleges (LDCE Ahmedabad, VGEC Chandkheda, MSU Baroda, BVM) and all category reservations are legally restricted to Gujarat Domicile candidates. Non-domicile candidates can only compete for the 5% All India Quota in government colleges and the 35% Management / All India Quota in private universities (like Nirma, DA-IICT, PDEU) through their JEE Main CRL Rank.

Paper 2: Biology (Group B) 40 Marks

Mandatory for Pharmacy (B.Pharm / D.Pharm) aspirants. Group AB students can attempt both papers.

  • 40 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Maximum Marks: 40
  • Duration: 60 Minutes (1.0 Hour)
  • Negative marking applies (-0.25 per wrong answer)
Subject Paper Questions Total Marks Duration Marking Scheme
Paper 1: Physics & Chemistry (Combined) 80 (40 Physics + 40 Chemistry) 80 Marks 120 Minutes (2 Hours) +1.00 for Correct • -0.25 for Incorrect
Paper 2: Mathematics (Engineering Group A) 40 Questions 40 Marks 60 Minutes (1 Hour) +1.00 for Correct • -0.25 for Incorrect
Total Exam (Group A - Engineering) 120 Questions 120 Marks 180 Minutes (3 Hours) Negative Marking Applies (-0.25 per wrong answer)
💡 Pro-Tip on Negative Marking in GUJCET
Because GUJCET awards only +1 mark per correct answer and penalizes 0.25 marks for mistakes, a student with 90 correct and 20 incorrect answers ends up with 85.0 marks. That 5-mark loss typically shifts your ACPC merit rank by 1,200 to 2,000 ranks in the crowded 70–95 mark bracket!
📊 50:50 Composite Merit Rank Formulation
In Gujarat engineering admissions, candidates are not evaluated solely on GUJCET marks. ACPC calculates the Common Merit List (CML) using an equal composite rule: 50% Class 12 Board Theory Percentile (PCM) + 50% GUJCET Percentile. To check your projected state merit rank, cutoffs, and normalization formula for CBSE/ICSE students, visit the ACPC Merit List portal.

Frequently Asked Questions: GUJCET & ACPC 2027

Answers to the most critical queries asked by Gujarat engineering students and parents during registration, choice filling, and seat allotment.

How is the ACPC Gujarat Composite Merit Rank calculated? ▾

ACPC Gujarat calculates the final Engineering Common Merit List (CML) rank by giving equal weightage: 50% weightage to Class 12 Board Theory Percentile in PCM and 50% weightage to GUJCET Percentile Score. For candidates from CBSE/ICSE schools in Gujarat, marks are normalized with GSEB percentiles to establish fair parity. Access the rank-wise cutoff lists and formula details on ACPC Merit List.

Can other state candidates apply for engineering colleges in Gujarat? ▾

Yes. Other state (non-domicile) candidates can apply under: 1) The 5% All India Quota in government engineering colleges through JEE Main CRL, and 2) The 35% Management / All India Quota in premier private universities like Nirma, DA-IICT, and PDPU. However, 95% of state quota seats and all category reservations are strictly reserved for Gujarat domicile candidates.

What is the difference between Parishistha-4 and Central OBC certificate? ▾

In Gujarat, SEBC reservation requires a specific Non-Creamy Layer certificate in Gujarati format known as Parishistha-4 (પરિશિષ્ટ-૪) or English Form 16, issued on or after April 1 of the preceding financial year. Central OBC certificates in the Government of India format are not accepted by ACPC for state quota reservation!

How does the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) work in Gujarat? ▾

Under the TFWS scheme, 5% extra seats are created across every branch in both government and private engineering colleges. Eligible candidates with family income under ₹8 Lakhs pay zero tuition fees for all 4 years. In colleges like Nirma or DA-IICT where tuition is ₹1.5L – ₹2L+ per year, TFWS saves up to ₹6–8 Lakhs total!

What is the Mock Round in ACPC and does it guarantee my admission? ▾

The Mock Round is a trial allotment practice round. It shows you the tentative college and branch you would receive based on your choices. It does not guarantee admission, but gives invaluable insight into whether your preferred choices are realistic, allowing you to modify your final list before Round 1.

What happens if I don't pay the Token Tuition Fee after Round 1 allotment? ▾

If you fail to pay the online Token Tuition Fee by the official ACPC deadline, your allotted seat is cancelled immediately and permanently. You forfeit all rights to that seat. To secure your seat while attempting to get a higher choice in Round 2, you must pay the token fee and choose "Consent for Reshuffling".

If I participate in Round 2 Reshuffling, what happens to my Round 1 seat? ▾

If you pay the Token Fee and give consent for Round 2: If you are allotted a higher choice in Round 2, your Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled and transferred to another candidate. If you are not upgraded in Round 2, your Round 1 seat remains 100% safe and protected.

Can diploma holders apply through GUJCET for 2nd year engineering? ▾

No. Polytechnic diploma holders seeking direct 2nd-year (lateral entry) B.Tech admission do not take GUJCET. They must appear for the DDCET (Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test) conducted by ACPC Gujarat. You can explore our DDCET College Predictor for lateral entry cutoffs.

What is considered a good score and rank in GUJCET / ACPC? ▾

An ACPC Common Merit List (CML) rank below 1,000 (GUJCET 105+ / Board 90%+) is elite, securing Computer Engineering / IT in DA-IICT and Nirma University. Ranks between 1,000 and 3,500 guarantee Computer Science / IT in LDCE Ahmedabad, VGEC, and MSU Baroda. Ranks up to 8,000 secure core engineering branches in top government institutes.

Where can I find official ACPC Gujarat counselling updates and registration? ▾

Students can track official announcements, e-counselling registration schedules, choice locking dates, and seat acceptance rules on the ACPC Counselling Portal and the comprehensive ACPC Counselling Guide.

Does LD College of Engineering (LDCE) have Home State quota? ▾

Yes. As a premier Gujarat Government engineering college, 95% of seats at LDCE Ahmedabad are reserved for Gujarat Domicile candidates through GUJCET ACPC merit rank, with full statutory reservations for SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, and TFWS. The remaining 5% seats are open to All India candidates via JEE Main.
