SNQ (Supernumerary Quota) Super Power
In every engineering college and every branch in Karnataka, AICTE and KEA provide 5% extra seats designated as SNQ. If your gross family income is less than ₹8.0 Lakhs per annum and you provide a valid Revenue Department (RD) Income Certificate during registration, KEA automatically considers you for SNQ seats. An SNQ seat at RVCE or BMSCE costs barely ₹5,000/year instead of ₹1,00,000+/year!
Kalyana-Karnataka Article 371(J)
Candidates from Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Koppal, Yadgir, Ballari, and Vijayanagara holding an official Article 371(J) Eligibility Certificate (Form E) receive 70% to 80% reservation in regional colleges and a pivotal 8% reserved quota in top colleges across Bengaluru, allowing them to secure CSE/ISE at top colleges at significantly relaxed closing ranks.
Rural (15%) & Kannada Medium (5%)
Students who studied for 10 full academic years (1st to 10th standard) in designated rural areas of Karnataka enjoy a 15% horizontal reservation. Decoding KEA Allotment: Choices 1, 2, 3, & 4 Explained
The single most crucial decision after every seat allotment round in KCET. Selecting the wrong choice can lead to complete forfeiture of your allotted seat or disqualification from counselling.
Candidate is completely satisfied with the allotted seat and does not want to participate in any further allotment rounds.
Candidate accepts the currently allotted seat as a secure backup, but wants to participate in Round 2 for higher-priority choices only.
Candidate is completely unsatisfied with the allotted seat, surrenders/forfeits it back to the general pool, and moves to Round 2.
Candidate is unsatisfied with the seat and does not wish to participate in any further KEA engineering allotment rounds (e.g., joined IIT/NIT or COMEDK).
Under Choice 2, if you are allotted any higher-priority option in Round 2, your Round 1 allotted seat is instantly and irreversibly allotted to another eligible candidate. KCET 2027 Counselling Schedule (Tentative Roadmap)
