Eligibility Criteria & Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Norms

Haryana mandates specific academic cutoffs, domicile norms, and electronic integration with the state Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID) database for all 85% Home State seats.

10+2 Academic Requirements

Mandatory
Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) examination conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) or CBSE/ICSE/any recognized equivalent board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Technical Vocational subjects. Minimum aggregate: 45% marks (40% for SC, DSC, BCA, BCB, and PwD candidates of Haryana).

Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP)

Haryana Only
Haryana Government mandates that all candidates claiming Haryana Resident Quota (85%) and category reservations must provide an active Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Family ID. Annual family income, caste classification, and local domicile verification are pulled directly via API from the PPP registry without requiring manual paper attestations.

All India Category (15%)

Open Quota
Candidates who do not possess a Haryana Domicile or PPP Family ID are eligible under the 15% All India Category (AIC) in all state universities (YMCA, DCRUST, UIET) and 100% of seats in private self-financing engineering colleges. AIC applicants compete purely on JEE Main All India CRL merit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Clear answers to the most common queries regarding Haryana B.Tech admissions, PPP requirements, cutoffs, and counselling rules.

Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES), functioning under the Department of Technical Education, Government of Haryana, conducts centralized online off-campus counselling for admissions into B.E./B.Tech programs across state universities, government colleges, and affiliated private institutes. Admissions to 1st Year B.Tech are strictly based on JEE Main All India Common Rank List (CRL) merit.
Yes, Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Family ID is mandatory for all candidates claiming Haryana Resident Domicile status and category quotas (SC, Deprived SC, BCA, BCB, EWS, TFW) under the 85% Home State Quota. The portal techadmissionshry.gov.in integrates with the Haryana Government PPP database for real-time verification of family income and domicile credentials. Candidates from other states applying under the 15% All India Category (AIC) do not require a PPP.
Yes, candidates from across India can apply under the 15% All India Category (AIC) quota in all government, university-maintained, and private engineering institutions. Furthermore, unfilled seats in certain categories may be converted during subsequent rounds according to Haryana government de-reservation norms.
J.C. Bose UST, YMCA Faridabad is the most coveted state technical university in Haryana. For Haryana Open General Category (HOGC), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) generally closes around 35,000 to 45,000 JEE Main CRL rank. For All India Category (AIC), CSE closes around 25,000 to 30,000 CRL. Reserved categories like BCA close around 65,000 - 75,000, BCB around 55,000 - 62,000, and SC/DSC up to 1,20,000 - 1,50,000.
The Government of Haryana bifurcates the 20% Scheduled Caste (SC) state reservation into two equal halves: 50% of the SC quota (i.e. 10% of total state seats) is reserved exclusively for Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC) as notified by the Haryana Government, and the remaining 50% (10% of state seats) is available for other Scheduled Castes (SC). If eligible DSC candidates are unavailable, the unfilled seats revert to the general SC category.
Under the AICTE TFW scheme, 5% supernumerary seats are created in every approved branch of engineering. These seats are available strictly to Haryana domicile candidates whose total annual family income from all sources is less than ₹8,00,000 (verified electronically through PPP Family ID). Candidates admitted under TFW are 100% exempt from paying tuition fees for the entire 4-year degree course.
In all government and government-aided engineering colleges in Haryana, 25% horizontal reservation is maintained for female candidates possessing bona fide Haryana residency across each vertical category (HOGC Female, SC Female, DSC Female, BCA Female, BCB Female, EWS Female).
In HSTES online counselling, if you are allotted a seat in Round 1 and wish to upgrade to a higher preferred branch or college in Round 2, you must pay the token seat acceptance fee and complete online provisional formalities. In Round 2 choice filling, you can enter higher choices. If upgraded, your previous seat is automatically cancelled and reallocated; if not upgraded, your Round 1 seat remains protected.
After two centralized online counselling rounds, participating colleges (including YMCA Faridabad, DCRUST Murthal, and UIETs) publish vacant seat matrices on their official websites. Candidates must attend physical on-campus spot counselling rounds where vacant seats are allotted on merit first to registered JEE Main CRL holders, and subsequently based on qualifying 10+2 PCM merit if seats remain vacant.
