MHT CET 2027 Seat Acceptance Decision Engine

Select your current round and allotment circumstances:

Decision Engine
Mandatory Rule

Auto-Freeze (Preference #1)

If you get your First Preference, the seat is Auto-Frozen by the system. You CANNOT participate in subsequent CAP rounds (Round 2 or Round 3).

Action: Pay ₹1,000 Seat Acceptance Fee online → Visit allotted college within deadline with original documents → Confirm admission.
Voluntary Action

Self-Freeze (Choices 2+)

If you get a choice other than #1, but you are completely satisfied with the college and branch, you can choose Self-Freeze in your portal.

Action: Pay ₹1,000 online → Report to the allotted institute to confirm admission → Exit centralized rounds.
Recommended Strategy

Not Freeze (Betterment)

You retain your allotted seat as a guaranteed safety net while competing for higher-preference choices in the next CAP round.

Action: Pay ₹1,000 Seat Acceptance Fee → Do NOT report to college yet → Edit/reorder options for Round 2/3.

MHT CET Seat Matrix, University Quotas & Reservations

Understanding the distribution between Home University (HU), Other than Home University (OHU), State Level (SL), Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS), and All India quota seats.

🏛️ Home University (HU) Seats

For non-autonomous colleges affiliated to a specific regional university (e.g. SPPU Pune, Mumbai University, DBATU), candidates passing 12th from that district hold Home University priority (historically 70% of state seats).

Regional Priority
🌐 Other Than Home Univ (OHU)

Maharashtra candidates passing 12th from outside the college's university jurisdiction compete for OHU seats (historically 30% of state seats). Cutoffs are typically 1–3% higher than HU.

Cross-University
⚡ State Level (SL) Seats

Premier Autonomous institutes like COEP Technological University, VJTI Mumbai, SPIT, and Walchand have 100% State Level seats. There is NO HU/OHU quota — all Maharashtra candidates compete on equal merit.

Autonomous Institutes
🎓 TFWS (100% Tuition Waiver)

5% extra supernumerary seats available in all engineering branches. 100% tuition fees waived for candidates with annual family income < ₹8,00,000. Cutoffs for TFWS are generally higher than open merit.

Frequently Asked Questions (MHT CET 2027 CAP)

Clear answers to the most common questions about percentile normalization, counselling rules, seat allotment, and reporting.

What is the difference between Auto-Freeze and Self-Freeze in MHT CET? ▾
Auto-Freeze happens automatically when you receive your 1st Preference choice in any CAP round. Because your highest dream choice was granted, the CET Cell system permanently locks your seat and excludes you from subsequent CAP rounds. You must pay the ₹1,000 Seat Acceptance Fee and report to the college. Self-Freeze occurs when you are allotted choice #2 or lower, and you voluntarily decide that you love this seat and wish to confirm admission right now without trying for higher choices in further rounds.
What happens if I choose 'Betterment' (Not Freeze) and do not get a higher seat in Round 2? ▾
If you choose Betterment and pay the ₹1,000 online Seat Acceptance Fee, your Round 1 allotted seat remains 100% safe and reserved for you. If Round 2 allocates you a higher-preference choice, your previous seat is automatically cancelled and offered to someone else. However, if you are NOT allotted any higher choice in Round 2, your Round 1 seat continues to be safely retained.
Can outside Maharashtra students get admission in COEP or VJTI through JEE Main? ▾
No. 100% of seats in Government and Government-Aided engineering colleges in Maharashtra (including COEP Technological University, VJTI Mumbai, and Government Colleges of Engineering at Amravati, Aurangabad, Karad, etc.) are strictly reserved for Maharashtra State Candidates based on MHT CET merit. Outside Maharashtra candidates can only apply for 15% All India Quota seats in unaided private engineering colleges (such as SPIT, PICT, DJSCE, VIT Pune, PCCOE) via their JEE Main Paper 1 score.
How is MHT CET Percentile calculated across multiple shifts? ▾
MHT CET is conducted across multiple days and morning/afternoon shifts. To ensure that students in tougher shifts are not penalized, CET Cell uses a mathematical Normalization Formula:

Percentile = (100 × Number of candidates in the shift with raw score ≤ Candidate's raw score) ÷ (Total number of candidates who appeared in that shift)

Percentile scores are calculated to 7 decimal places to avoid ties in state ranks.
What is the TFWS Quota and how do I apply for it? ▾
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) reserves 5% supernumerary seats in all approved engineering colleges in Maharashtra. Selected candidates receive a 100% waiver on their annual tuition fee. To be eligible, the candidate must hold Maharashtra State Domicile and submit an annual Family Income Certificate below ₹8,00,000 issued by the Tehsildar / SDO. During option form filling, TFWS choices have separate choice codes (ending with 'T').
What is the difference between E-Scrutiny and Physical Scrutiny? ▾
Under E-Scrutiny, you upload digital copies of all certificates through your candidate login; an allotted verification officer examines your documents remotely. If discrepancies are found, you receive an online query and can re-upload corrections from home. Under Physical Scrutiny, you must book an appointment slot and visit a designated Facilitation Centre (FC) in person with original documents for on-the-spot physical verification. Both modes have identical merit validity.
What is an ACAP / Spot Admission Round? ▾
ACAP stands for Against CAP Vacancy. After the conclusion of Centralized CAP Round 3, seats that remain vacant due to non-reporting or cancellations are returned to the respective colleges. The institutions then conduct institutional-level open merit Spot Rounds. All registered candidates who have an MHT CET or JEE Main merit rank can participate directly at the college campus.
Is there any negative marking in MHT CET? ▾
No. There is no negative marking in MHT CET. In the PCM group, Mathematics consists of 50 questions awarding 2 marks each (100 marks), while Physics and Chemistry consist of 50 questions each awarding 1 mark (100 marks total), bringing the total test score to 200 marks.
